Kudos to HVAC Techs Today

As the summer gets warmer, if we are lucky, we can turn on an air conditioner. Today is National HVAC Tech Day when we can recognize those HVAC professionals who keep us comfortable.

GRCC has a Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology program if this growing field interests you. And your GRCC Library has an Applied Technology & Job Training Subject Guide ready for you when classes start.

Metallica & Welding?

April is National Welding Month, which gives us an opportunity to hype GRCC’s Welding: Metallica Scholars program.

What’s Metallica, the famed hard rock band, got to do with welding? The musicians’ foundation, All Within My Hands, funds scholarships to selected welding programs throughout the US, and GRCC students benefit from their largesse!

Occupational Outlook Handbook reports “Employment of welders, cutters, solderers, and brazers is projected to grow 3 percent from 2019 to 2029, about as fast as the average for all occupations. The nation’s aging infrastructure will require the expertise of welders, cutters, solderers, and brazers to help rebuild bridges, highways, and buildings.” The American Welding Society has some great resources on careers in welding, and our Applied Technology and Job Training Subject Guide supports that program.
