GRCC counselor, Emily Nisley, is facilitating Mindfulness Meditation Monday sessions this semester. The sessions will be held in the Library’s Meditation & Prayer Room from 12 noon – 12:30 on Mondays. All GRCC students, faculty, & staff are welcome to learn how to meditate or build on previous meditation experience. Practice will be secular, with no particular religious or spiritual beliefs required. Chairs and floor seating are available; you’re welcome to bring a mat, cushion, towel, and/or blanket for more comfortable floor seating if desired.
What is Mindfulness? The Concise Corsini Encyclopedia of Psychology and Behavioral Science defines it as “a state in which environmental cues are consciously manipulated, and the individual is engaged in actively constructing his or her environment.”
