Database Spotlight: Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center

FergusonsTrue story – a young man came to the LLC’s Reference Desk and told me he was “angry with me” –  Yikes!  Over the weekend, he had followed my in-class recommendation to spend some time browsing through the career information in Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center.  He got so interested in what he was reading that he missed a “big game” on TV.   That kind of  angry, I’m okay with :>

Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center contains career information from career books, websites, and videos – on over 3800 careers.  There are links to current job and internship opportunities, and there’s a career interest assessment tool, too.  My favorite resource in the database is Ferguson’s 5-volume Encyclopedia of Careers and Vocational Guidance which we also have iFergusons Encyclopedian print in the Reference Collection.

You’ll find Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center on the Library’s Database page, as well as on most Subject Guides.  On-campus networked users can click right into the database.  Off-campus and wireless users need to logon with last name and 7-digit Raider number.   Try it today!
