Closed to Open Periodical Stacks: What does that mean for you?

2014 Pre-renovation: closed stacks

2015 Post-renovation: open stacks

During the summer 2014 semester, the GRCC Library underwent some fairly major renovations.  Included in the changes was an update to the library’s periodical section.  The renovation migrated the collection of magazines, journals and newspapers (in print form) from a closed stack format to an open one.  What this means is, that instead of having to request  and checkout issues at a service desk, patrons are now able to peruse the shelves themselves – no checkout necessary!  So, feel free to browse our periodical titles to your full contentment – but be sure to place issues you pull from the display racks or shelves on designated carts so that usage can be tracked.

The periodicals area is located on the second floor and materials can be used in the library during our open hours.  For more information regarding hours or periodical titles available checkout our website:  http://grcc.edu/librarylearningcommons  or the periodicals subjectguide, which provides a list of currently received titles.

Happy browsing!
